NACE Corrosion Tester

The applicant must have a NACE CP Level 1 (or higher) OR NACE CIP Level 1 (or higher) certification.

The Ampjack Corrosion Division is looking for motivated Corrosion Technicians to join our team in the field testing of electrical transmission structures with corrosion damage. We are hiring a Lead Assistant roles for an ongoing in-field corrosion inspection project in Springfield, Virginia.

Job Duties

Include completing field tests related to the assessment of corrosion to steel, soil resistivity testing, current testing, in-field data entry using handheld device and our data recording software, capturing photographic records of site conditions and observations, daily communication and reporting to the project team, following established and communicated safety standards, and operating vehicles (3/4-1 ton crew truck, UTV).

Successful applicants will be required to:

- Be legally permitted to work in the State of Virginia

- Hold a valid Driver’s License

- Hold a High School diploma or equivalent

- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

- Travel within the State of Virginia and work away from home for periods of time

- Be physically capable of walking up/down steep slopes, working outdoors and be able to carry 30lbs.

- Be capable of working cooperatively with others and in a team setting

For the current project, the following experience/knowledge would be an asset:

- Possess a NACE CP Level 1 certification (or higher); OR

- Possess a NACE CIP Level 1 certification (or higher); OR

- Diploma in Engineering Technology or degree in Engineering; OR

- Field testing experience in the assessment of corrosion of steel

Job Location

Locations cover various worksites in Virginia and the Springfield/DC areas.

Term of Employment and Hours of Work

Approximately 2-3 months (exact completion date to be confirmed)

Typical workdays are Monday through Saturday, 6:30am-6:30pm (approx. 72 hours/week)

Rate of Pay

$35 - $40 / hr regular time pay, depending on qualification and experience of applicant

Overtime rate paid at 1.5x regular rate after 8 hours per day. Daily travel is required.
