Overview
Premium Oilfield Technologies is seeking an experienced and motivated Regional MPD Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on managing and providing specialized Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) engineering services, including support for drilling, tripping, mud displacements, setting pills, MPD cementing, procedures, and related operations for customers in the area. This role will be working out of the local regional office in close collaboration with customers, internal teams, and field personnel.
This is a leadership position with a balance of technical expertise, customer management, and revenue growth responsibilities, offering competitive compensation and opportunities for commission-based earnings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Oversight:
•Oversee all MPD-related engineering aspects, including drilling hydraulics, tripping operations, mud displacement methodologies, pill placement, cementing, and specialized MPD techniques for Haynesville Shale operations.
•Draft, review, and approve MPD procedures and ensure accuracy of technical details, including P&ID schematics and hydraulic calculations.
•Perform hydraulic modeling to optimize MPD operations such as rollovers, tripping, displacements, and connections.
2. Customer and Project Management:
•Work closely with the regional operations manager to ensure clients have the appropriate equipment, personnel, procedures, and engineering solutions to successfully drill their wells via MPD.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for client drilling departments and engineers, attending pre-spud meetings and providing consistent communication and support.
•Collaborate with customers post-job for detailed performance reviews and recommendations for optimization.
3. Field Operations Support:
•Conduct rig visits regularly to ensure the proper implementation of MPD procedures, troubleshoot issues, and verify equipment readiness.
•Provide oversight and guidance for MPD field engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and efficiency in operations.
•Work closely with third-party service providers at the rig (e.g., mud loggers, MWD, directional services) to coordinate efficient drilling operations.
4. Training and Development:
•Lead training sessions for field personnel, operational teams, and customer engineers on MPD processes, equipment usage, and troubleshooting.
•Act as a mentor for MPD field engineers with overlapping responsibilities by providing technical guidance and performance evaluations.
5. Sales and Marketing Support:
•Play a key role in identifying and securing new client opportunities and expanding regional customer accounts.
•Earn commission by driving sales and managing new customer relationships through technical excellence and trust-building.
Qualifications & Experience:
•Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required).
•Professional Knowledge: Minimum of 3 years of experience in MPD operations and engineering, with demonstrated expertise in drilling hydraulics and MPD techniques.
Technical Skills:
•Proficient in hydraulic modeling and P&ID schematics.
•Supervisory-level well control certification required.
Soft Skills:
•Strong customer relationship management and communication skills.
•Leadership abilities to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams effectively.
