THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to conduct technical functions to effect subsurface production geology activities on the mining leases under the control of Nyrstar Tennessee Mines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES OF JOB HOLDER
Safety, Health & Environment:
•Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times.
•Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards.
•Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations, and ensuring that the Geology team report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives.
•Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines.
Function/ Production:
•Grade Control activities – face and muck pile grading.
•Overseeing ore production – record daily tons & grade, mined ore reconciliation.
•Ore Interpretation? - stope and development mapping, cross sections.
•Plan, implement, and record subsurface infill drilling programs.
•Compilation and reconciliation of Mineral Resource inventory.
•Supervision and support of Geology Technicians.
•Monthly mine Geology reporting and Mill reconciliations.
•Daily interaction with Mine Superintendent, Mine General Foreman and Short Term Mine Planner with regards to planning and mining activities.
•QA & QC of geologic data and samples.

•Panning of infill drill cuttings as needed.
•Core logging as required.
•Import drill hole data and create mine models using the MineSight software program.
•Collect daily grade control and dilution tracking data.
•Liaise with subsurface Drilling Contractors.
•Support the Geology Team as required and to the wider MTS Department.
•Provide technical, personal support and supervision to trainee/graduate Geologists/production geologists.
•Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations
Major objectives and STAKEHOLDERS
Identify the key challenging aspects of the role (approx. 3 recommended, maximum of 5). These may be short or long term and must be related to the job (not the person). They might involve client demands, new procedures, technology, developing new approaches, variations in workload etc.
•To oversee ore production faces and process samples to ensure future mining heading
Essential:
REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
•3-5 years subsurface production geology experience in mining role.
•Experience in geological modelling software packages, preferably MineSight.
•Exposure and experience in geostatistical resource estimation techniques and block modelling.
•Exposure to a broad range of drilling techniques.
•Good practical understanding of underground mining methods
