Position Mine Electrical Supervisor Location
Hudbay - Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor Electrical and working with the E&I Superintendent, the Mine Electrical Supervisor (MES) is an integral part of the Electrical team. With coverage that touches every portion of the mine production and Electrical Distribution systems the MES will assist the team with integration, supervision and continuous improvement for the entire Electrical Team. Focusing on the mine production/maintenance and mobile equipment, the MES will oversee, improve and integrate our workflow model throughout site, encouraging proper and timely planning for Maintenance of all our Electrical and SCADA systems throughout site. The MES will focus on all items that pertain directly to the mine production team and support the mine maintenance team with all their needs for assistance, maintenance and the safe approach to our Electrical and Control systems. The Mine Electrical Supervisor will assist the Senior Supervisor to facilitate our mandate of “The safe use, maintenance of, or approach to all Electrical and control systems on site. The Electrical Team will ensure that all our employees, contractors and the public have safe interactions with all our Electrical systems on site.
Responsibilities
- Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows the Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
- Follows Occupational Health and Safety, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain Mine’s standard operating procedures (SOPs),
- Work in conjunction with the Senior Electrical Supervisor to oversee all Electrical / Instrumentation and Control Systems on site, including planning, Mill Electrics, Pit Electrics, Truck Shop Maintenance, Utilities, Site Service Support, tailings and contractor management,
- Focus on equipment availability and reliability, for the production teams Mine, using delegates to help manage the substation, distribution and mobile equipment,
- Develop maintenance personnel to create a learning environment for our apprentices and our employees,
- Identifies, investigates, corrects, and documents potential environmental and safety problems, and helps to create solutions,
- Establishes methods to meet work schedules and coordinates work activities with other departments,
- Resolves work problems and recommends measures to improve productivity and product quality,
- Trains staff on job duties, safety procedures, and the Company policies and procedures,
- Coordinate the resources, tools, and materials needed for electrical maintenance activities, ensuring that the team operates efficiently,
- Oversee the inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring that necessary components are stocked and readily available for maintenance tasks,
- Maintain DATS for team, Oversee SAP, MAXIMO and the implementation of proper workflow, workorders and PMs,
- Completes performance evaluations on direct reports and provide regular feedback,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Mine Electrical Supervisor as directed by the Senior Electrical Supervisor or as assigned by the department head/production manager.
- Red Seal Trades Certification,
- Current BC Mine Supervisor Certificate,
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of varied maintenance experience within the mining industry with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role,
- High level of proficiency with Computer Applications, SAP and Maximo are assets,
- Possess a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills,
- Up to date on all onsite training, including requirements for the electrical/instrumentation crews,
- Competent in filling out forms including transmittals, warehouse vouchers, timecards, expense forms and investigation forms,
- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities and the foresight to recognize and overcome any potential challenges while effectively supervising the hourly staff and independent contractors,
- Promotes a positive work environment and addresses issues when brought forward,
- Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethic,
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners, and internal customers,
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.,
- Strong negotiation and prioritization skills,
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations,
- Experience in Maintenance of Pit Electrics, mobile mining equipment is an asset.
- Team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Work includes manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripheral devices,
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and adverse weather conditions,
- Ability to work in various industrial environments, including areas with potentially hazardous conditions,
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, during peak periods or emergencies,
- Assist Superintendent in development of team scopes and continuous improvements in all areas of Electrical, Instrumentation and controls required by the site team .
Rate of Pay
$124K - $138K / Annum.
