As part of the Mill Processing Plant Team, the Mill Operator 1 – Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring and controlling various processes and equipment within the facility. Operating from a centralized control room, this role involves overseeing the safe and efficient operation of equipment, ensuring product quality, and responding to deviations or alarms to maintain trouble-free production processes.
- Operate and monitor crushers, conveyors, mills, flotation cells, dewatering units, and other process equipment from a centralized control room.
- Control equipment settings, flow rates, and parameters to maintain safe and efficient production.
- Work with supervisors and engineers to optimize performance and product quality.
- Analyze data and KPIs to identify trends, deviations, or inefficiencies.
- Submit reports on production, equipment status, and process metrics.
- Respond to alarms and process deviations by taking corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate with maintenance teams on equipment issues.
- Monitor product quality and adjust processes based on analyzer feedback.
- Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and standard procedures.
- Activate emergency response protocols when needed.
- Operate systems through HMIs, DCS, and other control interfaces.
- Communicate clearly with field operators, supervisors, and support teams.
- Provide detailed shift handovers and highlight critical updates.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, interventions, and incidents.
- Technical diploma or certification in process operations, control systems, or a related field is an asset.
- 5+ years of milling experience required, with previous experience as a control room operator in a processing plant—preferably in mining or heavy industry—considered an asset.- Breath of experience across crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering processes required.
- Familiarity with DCS, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other process control platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and respond to deviations.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols, environmental regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across teams.
- Comfortable working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with computers and relevant software applications.
- Committed to following strict safety and operational standards.
- Competitive Hourly Rate: $48.90/hr with an additional 10% annual bonus
