NAES is seeking a Control Room Operator to join our Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Atlanta, GA. In this role, you will operate and monitor a wide range of power generation technologies from a centralized, state-of-the-art control room. The ROC manages projects worldwide, including renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro), reciprocating engines, simple cycle, aero-derivative, combined cycle, and process equipment. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced SCADA systems and cutting-edge operational tools, with training provided as needed. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations for multiple facilities across various technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Control Room Operator will be accountable for the safe, reliable, and compliant operations including monitoring, startup, and shutdown of multiple power generation technologies that may include Reciprocating Engines, Wind Turbines, Photo Voltaic Solar Units, and/or Gas Turbines.
- The Control Room Operator will support the integration of various existing control systems with the Remote Operating Center’s (ROC) SCADA system.
- Work within the SCADA software platform to remotely monitor, startup, shutdown and reset a variety of power generation systems.
- Perform system maintenance and operational changes / improvements under an established Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Provide proactive system support, working closely with our customers and our Operations center.
- Troubleshoot software and system components, from field device communication to the data historian, using available in-house and online support resources.
- Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving ability to identify issues, analyze data, and implement solutions
- Experience with gas turbines and/or power plant control room operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
- Previous experience in a power generation control room environment
- Familiarity with SCADA systems
- Gas turbine operations experience
