- Sets and removes meters in the field, attests to the accuracy of meters, makes adjustments and provides the appropriate documentation. Troubleshoots meter performance issues and repairs/replaces as necessary to resolve. Reads, installs, removes, and troubleshoots AMI/AMR devices, accurately determines meter size to match service demand.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Maintains adequate inventory of all sizes and types of new and/or tested meters, hardware, and AMI/AMR modules for new installation and replacement of meters.
- Sets, removes, replaces, and upgrades meters in the field.
- Decides meter size and type based on member load.
- Connects meter to testing apparatus.
- Addresses meter performance complaints, troubleshoots meters, and makes necessary repairs or replacements to resolve meter issues.
- Establishes proper three phase metering for new three phase installations and maintains existing three phase metering devices.
- Participates in recording of min-max readings, regulators readings, and other measuring devices as required.
- Cleans, repairs, and tests meters and current transformer meters utilizing in house equipment and installs current transformer meters.
- Performs tests on transformers, regulators, oil circuit breaker and other equipment as required.
- Tests meters in conjunction with billing, usage and service complaints and provides limited guidance related to problems beyond the metering point.
- Inspects services for unauthorized use of power, theft, tampering, etc.
- Schedules, arranges transportation of meters, and provides necessary information and/or records to independent meter testers who may be hired periodically.
- Implements and executes a statistical meter testing program and makes results available to necessary parties.
- Performs other duties as might be assigned from time to time by the System Engineer or other designated staff member.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include assisting with the annual reading of all meters, collecting of delinquent accounts and assisting with Field Representatives on disconnects, reconnects, meter readings and account transfers, etc., as required.
An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a current State of Michigan Driver's License
Knowledge of polyphase metering and three phase power banks is required.
