Group Description
The Hardware team is at the forefront of developing devices for the next-generation flow battery technology. We're not just designing and assembling battery stacks; we're developing solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in energy storage. As our workgroup scales, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of this vital technology. Join a dynamic team of engineers and scientists dedicated to creating innovative and reliable energy storage solutions.
Job Description:
Influit Energy’s Hardware team is looking for a hands-on engineer to design, build, and deploy testing devices in order to benchmark mechanical performance of flow battery stacks. As a team member, you will define/qualify/conduct mechanical test methods that are critical to understanding operational conditions of NEF based flow batteries. This role requires hands-on work in the lab and the ideal candidate should feel comfortable going from A-to-Z in the creation of design concepts.
Responsibilities:
•Design, build, and deploy mechanical test devices to benchmark the performance of flow battery stacks.
•Conduct mechanical tests to evaluate operational conditions of Nanofluid based flow batteries.
•Gather and define testing requirements based on team needs and translate these into functional and formalized procedures.
•Collect, organize, and interpret sensor data and draw meaningful conclusions to inform design and development.
•Build and integrate microcontroller systems using off-the-shelf or custom hardware for test device control.
•Develop, write, and deploy programs to automate and control testing devices.
•Assist with battery stack teardowns and failure mode analysis, including documentation of findings.
Required Qualifications:
•3-5 years of hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, and testing of hardware products within a hard-tech manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally within the energy storage industry.
•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a closely related field.
•Demonstrated experience developing test plans and operational methods for qualifying the performance of commercial products, particularly energy storage systems.
•Proficiency in 3D design and engineering tools, such as Solidworks or similar CAD software.
•Experience writing and modifying code for testing devices (C++ , Python/ MATLAB/ LabVIEW)
•Practical experience in creating devices for testing and monitoring parameters such as pressure, flow, temperature, voltage, current, and RPM.
•Familiarity with statistical analysis methods, (Six Sigma / Six Sigma Green Belt certification)
