🛠️ What You’ll Do
Design and Development
- Develop design specifications and conceptualize new mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with design engineers to complete detailed designs and drawings.
- Review existing systems and recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
- Prepare and verify engineering documentation, analyses, and calculations.
- Perform engineering analyses including stress, strain, heat transfer, vibration, and thermal dynamics.
- Design and execute test procedures to validate components and assemblies.
- Apply first-principles and analytical methods to confirm expected performance.
- Conduct design and production readiness reviews to ensure project integrity.
- Interface with project managers, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Partner with sourcing and manufacturing teams to support cost-reduction initiatives.
- Address emergent design or production issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Support procurement, documentation, and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and refine engineering procedures and productivity tools.
- Define technical scope, review outcomes, and assess project risks.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to align on priorities, deliverables, and timelines.
- U.S. Citizenship (required) — eligibility for NRC “Q” or DOE security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, drafting practices, and CAD tools.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and produce well-documented analyses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Self-starter mindset with initiative and accountability.
- Active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or DOD Top Secret clearance.
- Experience in the nuclear industry or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with ANSYS, Comsol, or similar simulation software.
- Integration and test experience.
- Background in vibration analysis, FEA, and thermal systems.
