Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, applicant will be responsible for supporting scopes of work activities associated with composite components, assemblie s , and machines in the Centrifuge Project. Provides support to the Centrifuge Program to accomplish goals and objectives while ensuring compliance to Centrus standards and practices.
- Act as the lead engineer for composite part design, fabrication and test
- Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting the following
- High vacuum systems
- Helium leak detection equipment
- Machined parts and assemblies
- Assist in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
- Design manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities
- Develop specifications for fabricated materials and equipment
- Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication
- Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
- Drive process improvement activities for internal activities and external suppliers
- Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements
- Contribute to cross functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality and purchasing
We'd Love to Hear from Candidates With:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in a professional environment designing and manufacturing large composite parts- a master's may be used to substitute for 2 years' experience
- Experience using FEA (Ansys experience is a plus)
- Masters degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years CAD experience (SolidWorks experience a plus)- Experience with lean manufacturing
- Project Management experience
- Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level security clearance
- Centrifuge design, test, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus
- Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems
