Performs a variety of material handling duties including, but not limited to moving, prepping, counting and packaging material safely and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
- Locates and identifies the correct material to be prepped or transferred according to the schedule or other designated reports.
- Responsible to deliver material using an industrial lift from storage or work area to the correct staging area to be prepped, or put into production.
- Correctly packages material according to customer specifications by performing duties such as: bundling, verifying material is cut to the right measurements, ensure there are no quality issues.
- Reports any concerns to lead such as quality concerns, short counts, incorrect part or packaging issues.
- Transfers material from Fabrication area to appropriate packaging location and maintain inventory data in computer systems.
- Pulls customers materials by: receiving the daily schedule, pulling the material from the warehouse, tag and stage for production.
- Attaches identifying tags to containers/bundles or marks them with identifying information.
- Ensures Fabrication areas are accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
- Establishes efficient work flow based on product and task.
- Follows safe warehousing practices when storing material.
- Safely operates industrial equipment which may include: a forklift, four-directional lift, two-directional lift, Combi lift, Drexel, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
- Operates small hand tools including, but not limited to a drill, punch, screwdriver, and/or chop saw as necessary.
- Efficiently uses packaging and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
- Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Knowledge of warehouse and packaging standards normally acquired through six (6) months of experience in similar position.
- Previous experience operating a forklift, four directional lift, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
- Previous experience loading/unloading vertical racking systems.
- Ability to read, count and accurately measure is required.
- Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
The position requires the ability to lift, load and carry items weighing up to 150 pounds
