Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator – Order Fulfillment
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a dependable and safety-minded Material Handler to join our Order Fulfillment Department. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing customer orders through material shearing, picking, and pulling processes. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards. This role requires regular forklift operation and will also support other departments and inventory functions as needed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
•Accurately pull, shear, and prepare materials for customer orders, including packaging, labeling, and processing order paperwork
•Operate forklifts safely to move, load, unload, and stack materials throughout the warehouse and yard
•Maintain organized and accessible inventory in the warehouse and staging areas
•Read and follow work orders and special instructions with precision
•Use measuring tools (e.g., tape measures, micrometers, calipers) to verify product specifications
•Assist with receiving materials and support inventory control as needed
•Maintain clear communication with the logistics department to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
•Prioritize safety at all times, including proper use of PPE and safe practices around equipment and vehicles
•Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
•Collaborate across departments and perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and Competencies:
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
•Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or steel service center environment
•Valid forklift certification and demonstrated ability to operate safely and effectively
•Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems preferred
•Strong understanding of basic measuring tools (tape measures, micrometers, calipers)
•High attention to detail and commitment to quality
•Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
•Flexible, reliable, and capable of working in a dynamic and fast-paced setting
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 25 lbs; heavier lifting may be required occasionally with equipment or team assistance
•Able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, and stoop for extended periods throughout the shift
•Must have sufficient visual acuity and peripheral vision to safely operate equipment and perform detailed tasks
•Must be able to hear and respond to alarms, radio instructions, and surrounding warehouse activity
•Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including unheated warehouses and outdoor conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather
