The incumbent will lead engineering projects as well as develop, implement and continually improve methods of machining, fixture, gauging and assembly on a global basis. Focus on continuous cost, quality improvements and plant support for new and existing manufacturing equipment utilizing Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly and innovative practices to optimize operations, tool life and cycle time reductions.
- Project manage new equipment specifications, commissioning, start up, debug and transfer into manufacturing with full documentation of all relevant instructions, maintenance manuals, machining and assembly processes.
- Drive continuous improvement on existing fixtures, gauging and machining identifying and adopting new and innovative approaches to solving traditional problems. Identify and implement actions to improve quality, reduce costs, and overall manufacturing efficiency. (FMEA’s, Process Flow Charts, Process Specifications).
- Investigate and recommend alternate methods and engineering solutions.
- Accountable for timely Operations rapid response in manufacturing difficulties, ensuring root cause is identified and permanent corrective actions implemented.
- Provide accurate and effective cost estimates for machining, fixture, gauging and assembly equipment.
- Provide accurate and effective process flow cost estimates.
- Develop specifications for purchases of new or replacement machining, fixture, gauging and assembly equipment.
- Program and run die cast and machining simulation software to ensure optimum utilization of machining and assembly equipment.
- Provide manufacturing engineering support in developing processes and the procurement of CNC equipment and fixtures.
- Interact with other pertinent departments as required.
- Follow projects from conception to full production status. Work closely with Product Design, Process and Manufacturing Engineering Groups to implement full project engineering solutions.
- Ability to travel globally as required (min 25%++).- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, grasp, reach, and lift – occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

- Visual requirements include ability to visually inspect work performed, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception (vision at or corrected to 20/20)
- Must be able to drive and operate machinery, equipment, and motorized vehicles
- Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily- Automotive manufacturing environment, minimum of 45+ hours per week with overtime as required to accomplish necessary job requirements.
- Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected
Bachelor’s degree in engineering Discipline with 3 years automotive manufacturing experience as program manager - Essential
Post-Secondary Diploma in Engineering Discipline (CET or Similar) with 10 years automotive manufacturing experience - Highly Desirable
Project Management Certification PMP/Prince 2 - Highly Desirable
