Description
As the Manager, Site Services, you will lead the Site Services team at NexGen’s Rook I project. This role is responsible for managing daily operations at site, supporting exploration, construction, and ultimately full operations. Key areas of oversight include surface infrastructure such as the site camp, airstrip, kitchen, accommodations, warehouse, and other critical facilities.
You will be accountable for budget planning, cost control, contractor oversight, and ensuring seamless coordination across departments during construction and operational transitions. A strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and NexGen’s core values is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
•Ensure full compliance with all site Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental requirements, policies, and standards.
•Lead by example to foster a proactive safety culture grounded in NexGen’s values and responsibilities.
•Conduct regular and visible HSE interactions to promote continuous improvement and active team engagement.
•Provide leadership in identifying and addressing both current and future state risks.
•Ensure contractors and employees understand and meet all expectations under NexGen’s Contractor Management System.
•Promote environmental awareness across camp operations, including waste, water, and emissions management.
Operational Oversight
•Manage site-based support infrastructure, including the camp, airstrip, kitchen, accommodations, warehouse, and other surface facilities.
•Oversee preventative maintenance and reactive repairs for infrastructure and equipment.
•Ensure smooth day-to-day camp operations, including logistics, housekeeping, and quality of life for site personnel.
•Provide oversight for water/wastewater treatment systems, lab operations, and sample handling processes.
Leadership and Performance
•Build strong, collaborative relationships with Nation partners, internal teams, and contractors.
•Embed NexGen’s culture and performance expectations across all site service activities.
•Establish and track clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), holding teams and contractors accountable for performance.
•Lead with ownership and pride in site facilities, ensuring exceptional housekeeping, reliability, and service standards.
•Maintain accurate documentation, meeting records, and communications in accordance with site requirements.
Project & Operational Readiness
•Work closely with construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operations teams to support infrastructure ramp-up.
•Participate in equipment selection, inventory planning, and operational readiness initiatives.
•Coordinate “first fills,” critical spares, and operator readiness in alignment with commissioning plans.
•Support a seamless transition from construction to steady-state operations, ensuring operational continuity and performance.
Cost Management
•Develop and manage budgets for all site service functions.
•Monitor operational expenditures and implement cost-effective systems, controls, and process improvements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
•Minimum 7 years of experience in site services, camp, or operational support roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity—preferably in a mining or remote industrial environment.
•Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.
•Experience overseeing infrastructure such as camps, airstrips, water systems, or warehouse operations.
•Working knowledge of SAP systems.
•Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
•Experience in Greenfield project development, infrastructure commissioning, and operational readiness.
•Strong safety mindset, environmental awareness, and commitment to regulatory compliance.
•Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, community-oriented approach.
