The Opportunity
Our Commercial Marketing Analytics Team is growing to help support the growth of our non-regulated affiliate Natural Gas and Power business. The team is responsible for fundamental, quantitative and valuations support of the trading and origination groups as well as information support for the risk and finance teams.
We are seeking self-motivated individuals in Houston who will work collaboratively with the trading desks to provide analytical support by conducting natural gas supply and demand analysis to help generate trade strategies and identify market and pricing trends. This integral team member will convey that work into tangible reports, analysis and recommendations for the commercial and trading teams.
The manager will serve as a strategic leader, guiding a high-performing team of analysts in delivering actionable insights that shape commercial decision-making. By fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous development, the manager ensures alignment across trading, and strategy functions. With a proven ability to manage complex workflows and drive analytical excellence, the manager empowers the team to translate data into forward-looking strategies that support business growth and market leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Set clear objectives and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and performance reviews.
- Conduct medium-to-long-term analysis of North America and regional natural gas supply and demand fundamentals in support of our trading and origination activities
- Maintain and run 3rd party production cost or capacity expansion models to help develop forward views of fundamentals and prices
- Track fundamental drivers that are incorporated into models used to identify opportunities
- Provide in-depth commercial insight for trading decisions and strategies by leveraging a mosaic of information and analytics
- Work with other analyst teams to monitor developments in commodities that can have an influence on natural gas markets
- Provide ad hoc analyses for the trading desk and provide timely and tradable analyses
- Provide daily reports and participate in weekly meetings by providing a fundamental outlook
- Develop models and dashboards to help understand, forecast and visualize supply/demand balances
- Network with industry counterparts to stay abreast of new information and techniques
- Track and Identify risks of third-party vendor data and forward analysis
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in the organization including Trading, IT, and Corporate Strategy personnel
- Participate in the evolution of the new business
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably with a concentration in Business, Finance, Economics
- 10 years’ direct analyst experience in an energy market trading environment.
- Extensive knowledge of data interaction or use of different data frameworks (Ex: programming skills or direct database querying ability)
- Demonstrated understanding of North American and global natural gas market fundamentals
- Strong Excel, VBA, SQL skills along with programing skills such as Python, R, or MATLAB
- Solid experience with report building and visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Skilled in economic analysis and analytical reasoning
- Solid understanding of the exposure created through origination, and trading.
- Experience managing dynamic workflow and multiple projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
