Position Specific Description

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to handle and adjust program claims that may be complex in nature on behalf of Palms Insurance Company and Palms Specialty Insurance Company. It is expected that the Specialty Lines Claims Adjuster will be responsible for the following:


Supervise all aspects of the claim file handling of both in-house and third-party administered claims through diligent investigation and assessment.
Strategically partner with counsel, experts and vendors to analyze and determine coverage, manage and evaluate the claim investigation and discovery while keeping internal and external stakeholders apprised.
Continually evaluate claims to set appropriate, and timely reserves over the life of the claim to reflect changes in exposure.
Advise management and legal counsel on strategy regarding complex loss matters.
Manage service needs of Palms, MGA’s and TPA’s as required.
Assist with draft policy language reviews and ongoing department procedural initiatives as needed.
Maintain accurate and updated claim files throughout the life of the claim.
Perform pre and post binding claim audits as needed and communicate the audit results to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned and necessary.


Qualified candidates will possess the following skills/capabilities:

Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements, and changing legal landscape for specialty line claims.
Understanding of technical claims proficiency and execution of Best Claims Practices.
Excellent analytical/negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and writing skills with a strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with other departments, business partners and vendors.
Ability to resolve complex claims with minimal supervision.
Good critical and analytical thinking, advocacy and negotiation skills.


Job Overview

The position is responsible for managing insurance activities related to claims, including investigation, evaluation, negotiations and settlement of claims, as well as managing third-party relationships involved in the claims process.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

Manages claims offices including investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims as well as managing third-party relationships that involve claims

Manages internal team of claims analysts to support claims activities and works with claims adjusters to assign claim value
Reports claims status, updates and resolution to appropriate financial and reporting team members
Presents claims status, updates and resolution for quarterly reporting
Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
