Position Summary:
The maintenance technician position is responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the maintenance department. The basic function of this role will be responsible for installation, repair, maintenance, daily and preventative, of piping, pumps, equipment, and other fixed plant assets. The person must be able to handle physical work as well as some computer applications. Individual must be able to read and interpret legal and technical information. Also, person must be able to conduct both hands on and classroom training.
Essential Functions:
•Properly lubricates, cleans, and repairs assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule.
•Provides a basic assessment of general equipment condition and reports perceived problems to the proper authority.
•Ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely.
•Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
•Properly identify and demonstrate the basic use of common mechanical shop tools and equipment.
•Maintains housekeeping throughout the plant.
•Interact with other personnel to maintain safe, efficient operation of the plant.
•Operate numerous plant machinery as needed to move supplies or products and/pr clean at facility.
•Other assignments or projects as requested by the manager.
•Assist as laborer for expansion projects, with duties such as helping with conduit, piping and wire pulls.
•Assist in general maintenance of the north and south plant facilities as needed.
•Seasonal yard work including mowing and weed eating.
Qualifications:
•High School diploma or GED
•Welding experience preferred
•Logical and practical thinker
Skills & Abilities:
•Computer Skills: Have basic computer skills including Microsoft word and Excel. Efficiently navigate a web browser, follow online instructions, type, and use a mouse.
•Work Ethic: An energetic forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards. An individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
•Physical Abilities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate. Read Product and chemical names.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety glasses, goggles, Face Shield, respirator etc.
•Vision: Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception
•Sense of Sound: 55 decibels, adult conversation
•Sense of Smell: Able to detect odors
