The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing items such as machinery, vehicles, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems in a safe and productive manner. This position is also responsible for supporting the production department in the creation of goods and services as may be required to service customers when maintenance requirements are up to date.
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Maintenance Technician. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Perform maintenance service repairs in the areas of machine servicing, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, fabrication and vehicle servicing.
- Create, publish, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance according to published schedule to meet production demand.
- Establish critical parts list and approved vendor list.
- Assist in implementing the 5S program.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearing, gears and other parts of machinery.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring and electrical components of machinery equipment.
- Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.
- Safely and properly operate cranes, fork trucks, and apply safe rigging.
- Provide monthly written maintenance reports.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Hazardous Chemicals policies.
- Ensure compliance with delivery and specification requirements of customer orders.
- Adhere to Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of warehouse maintenance experience
- Computer skills necessary
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient reading and math skills
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to measure using different tools
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
- Equipment and product knowledge
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong work ethic; initiative-taking
- Four or more years of warehouse maintenance experience
