Reporting to the Operations Manager the Maintenance Technician is required to conduct the safe, efficient and economical operation, monitoring and maintenance of Brookfield's hydroelectric generation stations. The Hydro Technician is responsible for hands-on electrical/mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and operation of turbine/generator systems, high voltage transmission/distribution and its related equipment.
- Responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of turbines and associated equipment at Hydro facilities;
- Perform gate changes as instructed, and record and report gate changes once completed. During periods of significant run-off, duties will include the close monitoring and reporting of conditions and instrument readings and related data collection;
- Safely perform station and dam operations; start and stop units as required;
- Perform routine maintenance on company machinery and equipment;
- Identify and repair station hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, including analytical problem solving/troubleshooting
- Monitor and report on equipment quality issues per factory requirements and company specifications from disassembly to commissioning;
- Perform duties as a contractor monitor when needed and report to immediate Supervisor or Project Manager.
- Follow approved Employer HSSE policies and procedures.
- Through facility operations ensure compliance with all operational requirements and procedures.
- Adapt and respond readily and calmly to changing situations, emergencies, and multiple priorities in a dynamic work atmosphere.
- Utilize corporate enterprise resource program (IFS) to perform time and expense entry
- Be available, as necessary, for overtime, on-call duties, and afterhours "call-ins"
- - The primary reporting location will be in Winslow, ME.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Experience with the electrical repair and maintenance of hydro turbine/generator systems, industrial electrical systems and related equipment as follows: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic as well as PLC programming and troubleshooting skills and ability to perform related essential functions of the job;
- Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic and mechanical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite, including MS Outlook.
- Troubleshooting skills and experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel and stay overnight for Employer business purposes such as training, corporate meetings.
