Maintenance Specialist

$29.20-$33.20 per hour
Job Summary
Plays a pivotal role in the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) of the production plants to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and efficiency of manufacturing equipment and facilities. This position is responsible for overseeing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting issues, conducting repairs, and upholding safety standards to minimize downtime and optimize productivity between two or more facilities.
Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance Coordination
•Consistently follow preventive maintenance schedules for existing equipment and facilities to prevent breakdowns and prolong asset lifespan.
•Prioritize maintenance tasks based on criticality and operational needs.
•Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
•HVAC and electrical certification preferred. Schooling and training may be available.
Troubleshooting and Repairs
•Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical equipment.
•Demonstrated ability to read and interpret building drawings, maps, and technical manuals.
•Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components or systems to restore functionality.
•Demonstrates thorough knowledge of electrical safety practices and standards, including OSHA, MIOSHA regulations.
•Coordinate with plant manager, vendors or external contractors for specialized repairs or services when necessary.
Equipment and Inventory Management
•Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for maintenance activities.
•Ensure proper storage and organization of equipment and supplies to facilitate easy access and efficient operations.
•Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Safety Compliance
•Ensure compliance of safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards to maintain a safe working environment.
•Conduct safety inspection, safety observations and safety audits to ensure readiness, identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
•Develop, implement, audit, and adhere to a Lock Out Tage Out policy that meets MIOSHA guidelines.
•Serve as a first responder to down equipment.
Team Collaboration
•Provide guidance and support to supervisors as needed to reduce costs.
•Foster a collaborative and positive work environment conducive to high performance.
•Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize disruption to operations and maximize efficiency.
•Collaborate closely with production teams to maintain equipment reliability.
Continuous Improvement
•Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the maintenance function.
•Recommend new technologies or methodologies to streamline maintenance operations and enhance productivity.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
•5 years’ (preferred) experience as a Maintenance Technician in a factory setting or equivalent experience.
•Experience with HVAC related to facilities or heavy equipment machinery preferred.
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED), some technical education preferred.
•Professional Certifications relevant to the position will be considered an advantage.
