Job Summary
The maintenance mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machinery and facilities to ensure continuous and safe operation. This role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance work across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Job Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and service to ensure equipment and machinery are in good working order and to prevent breakdowns.
- TPM: Establish and maintain PM program for all equipment, ensure critical spare parts are in stock and accurate records are kept for repairs and spare parts inventory is maintained.
- Troubleshoot and repair: Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in machinery, engines, motors, and other equipment.
- Install equipment: Assemble and install new machinery and systems, ensuring they are set up correctly and function as intended.
- Conduct inspections: Use precision measurement and testing instruments to inspect machinery and identify problems.
- Maintain facilities: Perform general facility maintenance, which can include plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.
- Manage: All facilities related vendors including scheduling routine and emergency services.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years as a maintenance mechanic/technician performing preventive and corrective maintenance.
- 1–3 years in a more advanced or lead role, OR equivalent demonstrated leadership (e.g., mentoring techs, coordinating vendors, owning PM programs).
- Technical school / vocational training certification in one or more areas is strongly preferred:
- Industrial maintenance
- Electrical technology
- Mechatronics
- HVAC
- Automotive or diesel technology (for mechanical aptitude)
- Technical skills: Mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose issues and develop quick solutions.
- Tool proficiency: Skilled in using a variety of hand tools and power tools, including hoists, cranes, and precision instruments.
- Physical ability: Capable of physically demanding tasks like lifting heavy objects, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Safety awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols, such as lockout/tagout procedures.
- Computer skills: Basic computer literacy is often required for using maintenance management software and communicating via email.
Hourly Rate: $28 - $35 DOE
