Machinist

JOB TITLE: MACHINIST

DEPARTMENT:Machine Shop

REPORTS TO: Machine Shop Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Identifies equipment requirements by studying product specifications

and equipment blueprints

2. Implements work assignment by studying drawings, blueprints, manuals, and specifications; selecting tools and materials

3. Fabricates equipment parts by setting-up and operating shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders; verifying dimensions.

4. Installs equipment by fabricating and assembling parts as needed

5. Modifies equipment by adapting pneumatic, hydraulic, and associated systems; specifying materials

6. Maintains machine shop equipment by diagnosing and correcting equipment failures. Maintain work area in a safe, clean and organized condition by adhering to the company’s standards and policies, following prescribed safety regulations and alerting the appropriate person regarding potential concerns.

Education and Experience:

5 + years as Machinist with previous experience on all phases of Machining operations

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Must be fluent in English language, both written and spoken, to communicate with the supervisor and

comprehend work instructions

2. Must be able to read blue prints and work orders

3. Ability to work with hand tools and precision measurement devices

4. Be an effective team player as well as an independent worker

5. Employee must have demonstrated ability to set-up, change over, and run various types of machine shop equipment

6. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of all aspects of machine assembly and disassembly with demonstrated ability to fabricate standard and non-standard production machinery

7. Familiar with detailed machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above. Occasionally assist in training of individuals in

the machining process.

8. Occasionally assist in training of individuals in the machining process.

Physical Demands:

1. Standing or sitting for long periods of time

2. Light to moderate physical effort required, involving lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.

3. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

4. Regularly required to reach and move about the facility.

Personal Protective Equipment:

1. Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.

2. Steel toe safety shoes must be worn at all times. Ear plugs must be worn when appropriate.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
