- Correctly set up and safely operate CNC machines, properly select and edit programs to optimize the machine’s efficiency and output.
- Safely follow routing instructions to ISO and company standards in order to maintain quality control and ensure job specifications are met.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records on operator worksheets by heat numbers.
- Safely operate machines to meet required dimensional tolerances with minimal direction while maintaining product specifications, standards and production output targets.
- Be proactive in diagnosing/ resolving and preventing material and equipment issues as incurred.
- Without delay, report defective equipment and parts to the Supervisor or Lead Hand(s) to ensure operational safety and production efficiency.
- Read and correctly interpret complex drawings and procedures
- Be knowledgeable in safe material handling techniques and safe operation of all material handling equipment.
- Accurately use precision measuring and inspection tools as required.
- Undertake other related tasks and functions as required.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary CNC Training program or equivalent CNC-specific work experience may be considered.
- 2 years’ experience working in a Machining department within a Manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Proficient ability to read and interpret drawings and procedures.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or SAP systems is an asset.
- Ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload, and rapidly changing priorities with effective time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in the use of common precision measuring tools – Vernier, micrometre bore gauges, etc..
- Understanding of machine surface requirements and tolerances.
- Ability to safely use overhead cranes and jib hoists to move products as required as an asset.
- Standing, walking, and bending for prolonged periods throughout the shift.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for handling tools, small parts, and performing precise machining tasks.
- Lifting and moving materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required.
- Visual acuity for reading blueprints, inspecting parts, and performing precise machining.
- Exposure to noise, coolant mist, dust, and fluctuating temperatures, including extreme heat.
- High levels of concentration and focus are essential to meet quality and safety standards.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
