As a Machine Maintenance Engineer / Technician, you will:
- Assure that machines and equipment are kept in a safe operating condition.
- Provide technical expertise and training in the die casting department to ensure company and departmental goals are continually achieved
- Create Preventative Maintenance procedures and schedule.
- Train maintenance techs to maintain machines.
- Perform general preventive maintenance (PM) and make machine/equipment repairs as needed.
- Maintains record of all PM and other work performed.
- Troubleshoot equipment, by inspecting and analyzing electronic, hydraulic, and mechanic devices of the machines.
- Make emergency repairs as safely and quickly as possible so as to maximize machine and equipment availability to production.
- Assist operators and other key personnel (as specified) with training to better operate and soft maintain and clean the equipment, within the scope of their responsibility.
- Monitor instruments and gauges to verify proper machines operating conditions
- Efficiently install accessory devices to equipment such as ladles or crucibles, holding furnaces, hot oil units, thermal cameras, etc.
- Repair and maintain metal processing equipment
- Define a predictive maintenance plan to be transmitted to the entire operation of the die casting department, aimed to prevent sudden decline in OEE performances.
- Using pluriannual experience, identify common equipment fails that could impact either production scraps or machines uptime and cycle time and create a specific predictive and preventative maintenance plan and records to be executed by the appointed die casting technicians.
- Promote in the die casting organization the use of innovative solutions to perform more efficient repairs, to limit the downtime, and in general to improve the OEE performances.
· Will have cross-functional knowledge/experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, PLC controls and relay systems. The function will be a team leader and player, with maintenance experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with the ability to trouble-shoot and repair heavy machinery, with high content of electronic and hydraulic systems. Very strong electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic background is required.
· Minimum 2 years of high pressure die casting machines maintenance experience
· Experience and extensive knowledge in maintenance and repair operations associated with electrical systems, electronics, fabrication, hydraulics, injection molding, mechanical drives, pneumatics, robotics, stamping, welding, assembly and conveyor, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and troubleshooting IDRA and COLOSIO brands
· Ability to do set ups and program parameters
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, specifications, and technical instruction manuals.
· General understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly equipment and tooling including design, automation, robotics, or manufacturing processes relating to automotive interiors
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment
· Ability to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.
· Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime
· Strong organization, time management and planning skills.
· Ability to maintain records and compile data to prepare reports, manuals and proposals
· Ability to pass competences, train and teach maintenance team on high pressure die casting machines
The working conditions require an ability to adapt to hot and cold temperatures.
This position is physically demanding. The position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks.
