Principal Objective of Position:
The Welding Team Lead is responsible for the inspection of welds performed in the weld cell and ensuring compliance with the company’s procedures and customer requirements. This position is responsible for overseeing all welders and directing them on daily plans to meet daily production schedules and quality requirements.
Essential Functions:

•Perform welding and grinding inspections on a variety of materials and parts to assess and ensure welds meet company and customer expectations and requirements.
•Verify and ensure appropriate welding equipment is used for the work to meet requirements of the work being performed.
•Ensure compliance with customer requirements.
•Maintain records of all customer approvals, approved processes, and procedures.
•Document all welding failures per the quality management system.
•Review weld mapping on various types of engineering layouts and prints for structures.
•Provide quality control and quality assurance of products delivered to established specifications.
•Read and understand product specifications and drawings.
•Oversee all welders in the weld cell, directing and coaching them to produce a quality and timely product.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education and Experience Required:*
•Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment, specifically in welding/fabrication positions.

Environment:*
This position is performed inside with little direct exposure to the elements. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
•Ability and demonstrated skill to safely and effectively operate all welding tools.
•Ability to read and understand the American Welding Standards (AWS) and customer specific standards regarding welding.
•Working knowledge of blueprint reading.
•Knowledge and understanding of standard welding symbols and requirements.
•High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
•Ability to manage multiple priorities with completing deadlines.
•Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
•Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and direct the work of others.
•Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from all backgrounds.
•Ability to work and lead a team.
•Ability to perform work wearing all required personal protective equipment including but not limited to steel toed boots, safety glasses and/or other eye protection, ear plugs or muffs, hard hat, heat and fire protective clothing, etc.
•Knowledge and understanding of different types of metal material.
•Ability to perform tasks while adhering to safety protocol.

•Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to recognize positional dangers and potential fire explosion hazards.
