Licensed Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Seeking: Licensed Water & Wastewater Operator for small Adams County municipal system.

Duties include but not limited to: Operating and managing the wastewater treatment plant and water system for the East Berlin Area Joint Authority. Water License Class C, D, Subclass 8, 12, Wastewater License Class C, Subclass 1, 4 required. Candidate must follow water pollution standards set by the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act, and will need to be familiar with federal and local regulations, laws, and standards regarding the quality of drinking water.

Daily rounds and tasks could include: Perform regular and recurring operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, adjusting, modifying and repair work at the wastewater treatment plant, such as operating mechanical and technological equipment and vehicles common to plant functions, using a personal computer with Microsoft software; upload and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the PA DEP and SRBC including Dweller, EDMR, and Consumer Confidence Reports; biological processes; chemical treatment; clean pumps; collect, prepare and deliver water samples for analysis; operate equipment such as tractor, control pumps, valves and computers that move water; responsible for testing the water at various stages; interpreting and adjusting meters and gauges; remotely read meters; assist with exercising equipment, minor infrastructure repairs, flushing hydrants, installing water meters, and any other assigned duties.

This position requires: moderate physical work requiring ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; regular walking and standing; some pushing, pulling, bending, stooping/crouching, and climbing.

Work is both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Hourly rate of pay is negotiable.

Requirements include:

Class C Water License, Subclass 8, 12

Class E Water Distribution System License

Class C Wastewater License, Subclass 1, 4

High School or Equivalent Diploma

Valid driver’s license / clean driving record

Must be committed to the town of East Berlin and willing to work overtime, overnight, and weekends when necessary.

Must be able to handle physically demanding work in all sorts of weather.
