We have an exciting opportunity for a Leak Surveyor based in Lawton, OK.
This position detects and classifies natural gas system leaks following a Picarro Leak Detection Vehicle. This role would work with a variety of leak detection technology and tools. It also applies training to identify immediate hazardous situations to protect life and property.
- Perform leakage surveys on natural gas transmission and distribution systems using mobile and portable leak detection equipment.
- Exercise judgment in properly classifying and grading leak indications as to the level of hazard.
- Complete all required leak documentation and notifications.
- Maintain documentation of all leak survey activity.
- Repair above ground leaks when practical.
- Conduct both inside and outside leak investigations in a thorough and professional manner.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, safe work practices, and standards.
- Know and comply with O.S.H.A., D.O.T., and State regulatory requirements of leak survey, leak investigation, operations, and gas distribution operations in general.
- Work with Leak Survey Supervisor on reporting, training, scheduling, equipment, and productivity issues.
- Conduct regular personal contact with the public, customers, employees, and outside contractors, requiring above-average tact and judgment.
- Identify map inaccuracies and complete documentation as needed.
- Conduct continual surveillance and report system anomalies and/or irregular conditions.
- Provide assistance with incident investigations as needed and assist crews in locating leaks for repair as needed.
- High School Diploma
- Requires a minimum of two years of experience in natural gas distribution and/or service.
- Able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Able to operate Flame Ionization machines, Combustible Gas Indicators, and other leak detection equipment.
- Able to demonstrate and apply a thorough understanding of leak classification criteria, Pipeline Safety Regulations Part 192, DOT, OSHA, and company standards related to corrosion control, investigations, operations, and maintenance in general.
- Able to interpret system maps.
- Able to obtain a Leak Survey Certification by successfully completing annual exams.
- Able to respond well to changing priorities, solve problems with logical solutions and work well in a team-based environment.
- Able to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Able to respond to customers with courtesy and knowledge.
- Able to demonstrate basic computer skills to create leak equipment in SAP, use mapping software, complete forms in Microsoft Excel, complete online expense reports, etc.
- Must have a valid driver's license from the state corresponding to your work location at all times and maintain a satisfactory driving record as determined by the company.
- Able to comply with all company driver safety policy requirements.
- Able to use a laptop or personal computer and mainframe software programs, including e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and SAP programs including Mobile Data and ESD.
- Able to meet all physical requirements, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen, and other selection criteria determined by the Company.
- Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses, and do so timely.
