Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. About the Project

Red Chris is a gold and copper mine located in Taltan Territory, northern British Columbia. Operated by Newmont since 2023, the mine is transitioning from open pit to underground block caving—an innovative method that extends mine life while reducing environmental impact. This transition will create new, technically advanced roles and opportunities to work alongside global experts. We are committed to partnering with the Taltan Nation and local communities, ensuring the project delivers long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.

Your Impact

As Lead, Planning Project Controls, you will play a critical role in delivering one of Newmont’s most complex and strategic projects. You will:

- Shape project execution by developing, coordinating, and maintaining integrated schedules across all project phases.

- Anticipate and manage risks through critical path analysis, scenario planning, and proactive mitigation strategies.

- Enable informed decision-making by providing accurate forecasts, variance analysis, and schedule insights to senior leaders.

- Optimize performance by ensuring resources, contractors, and EPCM partners are aligned to project goals.

- Lead with influence by mentoring a team of planners and engaging stakeholders across technical, operational, and executive levels.

As a Part of Our Team, You Will

In this leadership role, you will be a key connector across disciplines, ensuring that project goals are translated into clear, actionable schedules. You will:

- Partner closely with Project Directors, Area Managers, and Engineering leads to integrate technical, construction, and operational plans into a unified schedule.

- Collaborate with Project Controls, Procurement, and Finance teams to align schedules with budgets, resources, and contractual commitments.

- Act as the main interface with EPCM contractors, vendors, and consultants, ensuring consistency and accountability across external partners.

- Facilitate planning workshops and alignment meetings, bringing together global experts and local teams to anticipate challenges and identify solutions.

- Contribute to a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement, mentoring planners and encouraging innovation in tools and practices.

Your ability to influence, communicate, and integrate multiple perspectives will make you a trusted partner for senior leaders and a driver of project success.

Requirements for Success in This Role

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related discipline.

- Significant experience in project planning, scheduling, and controls within mining, construction, or large-scale industrial projects.

- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and modern planning systems.

- Strong understanding of capital project management (cost control, risk management, earned value management).

- Demonstrated leadership experience, with ability to build, mentor, and guide planning teams.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to present to executives and influence at all levels.

- Track record of continuous improvement, adopting new technologies and best practices in project controls.

Your Work Environment

- This role is based in Vancouver and will require frequent travel to the Red Chris Project site. As construction ramps up, there will be an increasing requirement to spend extended time at site.

- You will work in a hybrid setting that combines office-based responsibilities with on-site engagement, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, EPCMs, and contractors. The role requires adaptability to remote project conditions and flexibility during critical phases, which may include extended hours to meet key milestones.

- You will be part of a culture rooted in safety, inclusion, and strong partnership with the Taltan Nation and local communities.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$CAD 155,040 - CAD 203,490 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
