OC San is currently looking to fill the role of a Lead Instrumentation Technician.
Under direction, leads, oversees, and participates in the work of staff responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of process control instrumentation and related equipment; oversees and implements additions or modifications of control systems; troubleshoots and repairs the most complex electrical, electronic, microprocessor-based, and pneumatic and mechanical process control components; and performs duties as assigned.
Specifically, this Lead Instrumentation Technician will perform the most complex work of the unit including troubleshooting and repairing the programmable logic controller (PLC) based system and a wide variety of complex control instruments relating directly and indirectly to the control of plant processes and their related support systems.
In addition, the Lead Instrumentation Technician will perform complex installations of process control components, panels, cables, and systems; determine measurements and develop drawings for installations; order equipment, parts, and supplies for installation of systems; install parts, equipment, piping, and wiring per design specifications; calibrate the instruments; test the systems; correct any failures; document control cable routing; and coordinate installation with other divisions as necessary.
Other duties will include training, coaching, and developing junior-level staff in the proper troubleshooting, repair, and safety procedures; verifying the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, compliance with standards and specifications, safety, and timeliness; updating the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database and scheduled maintenance activities to effectively manage the assigned area; responding to inquiries and resolving complaints in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner; estimating time, materials, and equipment required for jobs; contacting other departments involved in the maintenance or repair of equipment, driving OC San vehicles; and performing related duties as required.
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:* High school diploma or G.E.D., supplemented by specialized training or coursework such as relevant trade school in instrumentation technology or a related field.
Desired:* Prior experience working in water/wastewater for local government utility or municipality.
