Lead Industrial Painter

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lead Industrial Painter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial painting, supervising others and a strong understanding of materials handling and fabrication processes. The Lead Painter will supervise the painters and ensure projects stay on schedule. They will coordinate with project managers and assist in the painting department where needed. They will be responsible for maintaining a clean department and completing all required documentation.

Painter Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial blasting and painting

· Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience

· Basic knowledge of Steel Fabrication

· Competent in Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

· Knowledge of painting testing equipment

· Strong math skills

· Good communication skills

Job Duties

· Read blueprints and drawings to understand the painting requirements

· Coordinate with Operations Manager blasting / painting schedule

· Order paint supplies as needed

· Train painters on proper technique and quality requirements

· Blast surfaces to the required profile

· Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, grinding, taping, and applying primers

· Perform minor repair work on surfaces to be painted

· Selecting and mixing appropriate paints and other coatings according to specifications

· Applying paints and other coatings using a variety of tools, such as sprayers, brushes, and rollers

· Setting up, maintaining, and cleaning painting equipment

· Ensuring that painted surfaces meet quality standards and that paint application is uniform and free of runs, bubbles, and debris

· Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to OSHA safety procedures and HazMat regulations

· Inspecting final product for any inconsistencies or defects

· Complete all required documentation

· Other duties as assigned

Must pass physical exam as required for use of respirator in accordance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A))
