The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.
Position Summary
The Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for supervising a team of Maintenance Technicians in the performance of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and repair of electrical and mechanical devices associated with the Surface Water Treatment Plant and related facilities with voltages up to 12,470 Volts.
•Prioritizes, coordinates, and delegates responsibilities and activities to the staff to be performed in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by SJRA Senior Management and/or Board of Directors; conducts performance evaluations.
•Processes maintenance activities and work orders using the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) and properly documents, organizes, and files correspondence, reports and records related to maintenance activities within the system. Reviews maintenance records and recommends modifications and/or replacement with alternative equipment to ensure effective utilization of the EAM program.
•Provides input to the Chief Maintenance Technician regarding annual budget, ten-year project plan, five-year staffing plan, strategic and tactical plans and all staffing related issues.
•Enforces safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures; verifies that all required Personal Protective Equipment is assigned and available to staff; reviews incident investigations and takes action to prevent recurrence; coordinates with the Risk Management department as appropriate.
•Oversees and/or performs corrective and preventative electrical/mechanical maintenance on plant equipment such as variable frequency drives, pumps, motors, blowers, floats, switches, light fixtures, emergency generators, switch gear, etc. Oversees and/or performs modifications to existing plant electrical equipment with voltages up to 12,470v in order to improve the process and/or add electrical system reliability.
•Reviews and comments on construction plans and specifications for improvements to systems; performs inspections and resolves warranty issues concerning existing, new, and rehabilitated facilities and equipment.
•Performs on-site project observation of electrical contractors and/or their subcontractor’s activities and work related to electrical scope.
•Provides input to the UE Maintenance Manager toward the establishment of the overall goals and objectives of the designated area of business; collaboratively leads the Maintenance Department to successfully accomplish approved goals and objectives; communicates goals and expectations to team members and measures performance against those goals and expectations.
•Operates Authority vehicles and/or equipment for maintenance purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct job duties.
•This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
•This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during an emergency event, (2) in preparation for an emergency event, and/ or (3) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.

Requirements
•High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
•Associate's degree or technical school, trade school or equivalent preferred.
•At least 10 years of electrical maintenance in a municipal, industrial, or commercial setting. Electric motor troubleshooting and maintenance required.
•At least 8 years of Variable Frequency Drive troubleshooting and maintenance required.
•At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
•Texas Driver's License with Insurable driving record required.
•Texas Journeyman Electrician License required.
•Master's Electrician License preferred.
