York Metal Products Inc is seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Electrician to join our fast-paced and skill-oriented team. The Lead Maintenance Electrician will organize and lead the team to implement the plant’s maintenance programs and be responsible for the overall maintenance of systems, equipment, and tooling.
Responsibilities:
Electrical System Maintenance & Troubleshooting
•Routinely inspect and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, panels, and building appliances.
•Read and interpret electrical schematics; verify and maintain components to schematic standards.
•Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in systems and equipment, conducting root cause analysis to restore functionality.
•Identify hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes and safety standards.
•Conduct repairs, installations, or replacements of electrical appliances and components as required.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and document all activities.
•Restore, rebuild, or replace inoperative machine parts and tooling.
•Ensure work is performed in compliance with company health, safety, and quality standards.
•Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
Technical Support & Equipment Oversight
•Maintain and support complex 3D-Flow Forming machinery.
•Inspect and monitor equipment performance, ensuring data is accurately documented and tracked using maintenance KPIs.
•Recommend and execute necessary adjustments to improve machine reliability and production efficiency.
Project Leadership & Vendor Coordination
•Lead and participate in equipment installations, modifications, restorations, and repair projects.
•Schedule and supervise site visits by vendors and contractors; manage on-site activities ensuring safety and compliance.
•Determine required parts and supplies; coordinate procurement with maintenance or purchasing teams.
Safety & Equipment Operation
•Operate lifting devices such as overhead cranes, scissor lifts, and skyjacks safely.
•Conduct and support facility improvement and safety projects in coordination with the production and engineering teams.
•Participate in Pre-Start Health & Safety Reviews for equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
•Write detailed maintenance and electrical reports for record-keeping and compliance audits.
•Maintain accurate logs of all preventive and corrective maintenance work performed.
•Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Director of Operations.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skill Set Requirements:
•Licensed Electrician in good standing.
•Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Maintenance Electrician in a manufacturing environment.
•Education in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
•Familiar with automated production equipment, robotics, CNC, PLC and press shop operations.
•Mechanical aptitude highly preferred (ie mechanical experience, education or Millwright certification)
•Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
•Proficient in working with industrial electrical systems and adhering to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
•Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a hands-on approach.
•Strong attention to detail and risk mitigation awareness.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced shop floor environment and meet tight deadlines.
•Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during emergency shutdowns.
•Performs well when working under tight deadlines
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
•Fast Paced manufacturing shop floor environment involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing.
•Process involves postures including forward reaching, tight gripping, some climbing and squatting.
•Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination.
