Job Summary
We are a leading contractor in the communications line construction industry, providing services for a variety of clients. We are currently looking for a motivated Lead Cable Lineman to join our Fredericton team.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Lineperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical systems and telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, as well as the ability to operate specialized equipment such as bucket trucks and forklifts. The Lineperson will work closely with other team members to ensure that all projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Lead and supervise crew members in daily field operations.
- Operate vehicle-mounted aerial devices (bucket trucks).
- Operate cable lashers and other line construction equipment.
- Load and unload equipment and cable trailers.
- Install coaxial, copper, and fiber cables (aerial and underground).
- Assign tasks and monitor crew performance to ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
- Report work progress, issues, and completion status to management.
- Ensure daily paperwork, job reports, and safety documentation are completed accurately.
- Enforce company safety policies and safe work practices on site.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
- Ability to:
- Carry, raise, and climb ladders
- Carry, lift, and handle heavy equipment
- Climb and work aloft from wooden utility poles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Proven experience in cable line construction or a related physically demanding role.
- Must be willing and able to work aloft, including climbing poles.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license with air brakes Endorsement.
- Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be willing and able to operate hand and power tools, including gas/electric drills and chainsaws.
- Ability to make sound decisions and lead a crew with minimal supervision.
- Must follow all safety rules and ensure crew compliance at all times.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check.- Minimum of 1+ years of cable lineman or communications field experience preferred.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience is a strong asset.
- Technical training or lineman certification is considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates with cable lineman experience in the communications field.
