Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable BMP (Best Management Practices) Installer. You will be responsible for the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of various erosion and sediment control measures on construction sites. This is a “side-gig”. It only requires occasional work when we obtain contracts from builders. We will train you on how to perform the installation and maintenance tasks. As long as you are hard-working, will follow instructions, and maintain quality, we want to talk to you.
Responsibilities:
•Installation of BMPs: Accurately install a variety of temporary and permanent erosion and sediment control measures according to SWPPP specifications, site plans, and manufacturer guidelines (we will train you). This may include but is not limited to:
•Sediment logs/wattles (straw, coir, fiber rolls)
•Inlet protection devices (e.g., gravel bags, filter socks, fabric inserts)
•Check dams (e.g., rock, fiber logs)
•Maintenance and Repair of BMPs: Regularly maintain installed BMPs for damage, wear, and sediment accumulation as requested. Perform necessary maintenance and repairs, including:
•Removing accumulated sediment and debris from BMPs.
•Repairing or replacing damaged silt fences, wattles, and other measures.
•Ensuring proper anchoring and stabilization of BMPs.
•Maintaining the functionality of inlet protection devices.
Other Tasks include:
•Material Handling and Organization: Safely load, unload, and transport materials. Maintain organized storage of materials when necessary.
•Documentation: Accurately document installation, maintenance, and repair activities as required.
•Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as site-specific safety regulations. Participate in safety meetings and report any unsafe conditions.
•Communication: Communicate effectively with the installation Manager, site superintendents, and others regarding BMP status and needs.
•Equipment Operation: Operate basic hand tools and potentially small equipment related to BMP installation (e.g., post drivers, shovels, trencher).
Qualifications:
•Truck and Current Driver’s License. Must have own pickup or truck. You will drive and transport materials and equipment from job site to job site while adhering to all local, state and federal laws.
•Previous experience in construction, landscaping, environmental work, or a related field is beneficial.
•Ability to read and understand basic site plans and SWPPP documents (training provided).
•Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
•Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
•Reliable transportation to job sites.
•Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.
•Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift heavy objects for extended periods.
•Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
•Ability to work on uneven terrain.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 8 per week
