Land Survey Crew Assistant

Longhorn Geomatics is growing again and we are currently seeking a motivated Field Assistant to join our fast-growing company. We are seeing an increase in volume of work with our existing and new clients and have a position available for the right teammate who is eager to learn and grow and be a key member of our field operations. We are looking for Field Assistants to fill open positions in our second location of Portland, Oregon.

Willing to consider applications with no prior industry experience, however, candidates with industry experience is preferred. Applicants must keep in mind the position can be physically rigorous. Field staff work in all weather conditions.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with the following list of criteria:

-Post secondary education

-Experience using Leica GPS RTK equipment

-Knowledge of ATS and field calculations

-Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task with different types of tasks requested by the party chief

-Valid drivers license and clean driving record is required

-Experience with construction surveying and calculations (i.e., curbs, gutters, sidewalks, road alignments, below ground infrastructure (waterlines, storm lines, sanitary sewers) would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

- Assist in land surveying activities by utilizing GPS technology for accurate data collection.

- Support the preparation of schematics and drafting plans using CAD software.

- Conduct utility locating and perform measurements using trigonometry and geometry.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow on construction sites.

- Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

- Transport materials and assist in heavy lifting as required.
