- Lead activities related to topographic, control, boundary, ALTA, and as-built surveys, as well as construction/heavy civil layout.
- Ensure accurate running of survey measuring instruments, including GPS/GNSS equipment and robotic total stations.
- Participate in project planning and schedule development, consulting with supervisors regarding scheduling issues/conflicts.
- Learn project plans and specifications in detail.
- Perform data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, and staking computations using survey software.
- Keep accurate field notes and maintain survey instruments and equipment.
- Ensure client satisfaction in all client relations.
- Train and mentor subordinate staff.
- Maintain and ensure the survey truck is properly equipped and maintained.
- Additional Job Functions: Operate all equipment, direct field personnel, clear lines, locate boundary corners, properly enter data, research and gather information, schedule vehicle maintenance, report problems with equipment, acquire work assignments, oversee crew, ensure crew safety, accurately record time sheets, recommend crew members for promotions/disciplinary action/dismissal, make in-field decisions on boundaries and topographic surveys.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 4+ years of Land Survey field-related experience.- Understanding of basic algebra, trigonometry, and coordinate geometry.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic proficiency in written and verbal business communication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting contracts.
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain professionalism.
- Interest in increasing knowledge of surveying and technology.
- Fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Dependable and consistent attendance.
- Experience communicating face-to-face, via email, and over the telephone with clients.
- Occasional to frequent overnight stays and travel to assigned field sites.
- Ability to work in any safe weather condition.
- Possess high integrity and excellent attention to detail.- 4+ years of experience minimum - Maintain a current driver’s license in good standing
- Land Surveying: 4+ years (Required)
- Supervising: 1 year (Preferred)
