Summary
Under the direction of the Director - Land, the Land GIS Analyst will be responsible for the creation, addition, editing, and maintenance of GIS data within a local ESRI environment and land software, to deliver meaningful spatial data across the organization. The Land GIS Analyst will collaborate closely with enterprise and geo analysts, land professionals, and the operations and non-operated teams. You will also support data collection, monitor system networks, develop project reports, and document workflows. The Land GIS Analyst should anticipate a request for availability during business hours as well as in-office work at our headquarters in Houston, Texas with remote flexibility.
This position is contract-to-perm. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Responsible to the Director-Land for the following:
- Maintain land and subsurface digital data sets.
- Responsible for adding, creating and maintaining GIS data in a local environment; collaborating with brokers and enterprise GIS analysts; performing spatial and tabular analysis; supporting mobile field data collection; monitoring system networks; developing project reports and workflow documentation.
- Perform edits to geospatial data while maintaining proper data quality and integrity.
- Responsible for scheduled & structured data entry, export, and dissemination for various datasets.
- Create and maintain data links to GIS and Spotfire software.
- Database management in SQL and MS office software, working with IT to enable live-data connections to GIS and other software solutions.
- Database maintenance/cleanup and linking of multiple land datasets (multi-basin) and various projects.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data for mapping, reporting, analysis, and presentation.
- Provide mapping and general GIS support across multiple disciplines within the organization; communicates timely with Land, Engineering, Geoscience, and other departments.
- Develop and maintain GIS models/scripts for process automation.
- Able to work independently.
- Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals.
- Strong PC skills including ArcGIS, MS Office Suite, Quorum (QGIS, QLS Required), Spotfire. Experience with Petrel is preferred.
- Good verbal/written communication, organization and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree, GIS preferred
- A minimum of seven (7) years of prior experience working for an E&P with operated oil and gas assets.
- Prior experience mapping land tracts from metes and bounds descriptions.
- Relevant experience associated with upstream oil & gas operations, land, and E&P workflows.
- Experienced in loading, manipulating, and cleanup of SHP files.
- Experienced with Python with a desire to develop more advanced skills.
- Fluent verbal and written skills in English.
