Description Position Summary

The

Laboratory Analyst II

supports environmental compliance and informed decision making by generating accurate and defensible analytical data in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and approved test methods. This advanced role requires proficiency with a wide range of analytical techniques, instrumentation, and various laboratory software platforms for data management. Work is driven by sample holding times and client deadlines, requiring strong communication, independence, and collaboration. Senior Analysts are expected to leverage prior experience, broaden technical expertise, and assume elevated responsibilities within the laboratory. Assignments may include general chemistry, inorganics, organics, wet chemistry, metals, and/or other specialized analytical areas as required by business needs.

- Collaborate with colleagues and management to achieve departmental and organizational objectives;

- Perform sample preparation and analysis of client and quality control samples while maintaining accuracy, quality, turnaround time, and output standards;

- Develop and maintain knowledge of laboratory systems, instrumentation, and technology, including regulatory programs and client-specific requirements;

- Operate and demonstrate proficiency with a broad range of analytical instrumentation, equipment, laboratory software platforms, and technology relative to assigned analyses;

- Execute analyses consistently across multiple technologies;

- Demonstrate strong time management skills to meet workload and client requirements;

- Assess out-of-control data or analytical systems, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions;

- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting under guidance using established methodologies as needed;

- Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and compliant documentation of all laboratory activities;

- Support the Quality Department by participating in the following:

- Participate in internal and external audits;

- Complete NCRs and investigation reports in collaboration with Quality Department, Client Services, and management teams;

- Submit document requests within laboratory software platform;

- Assist with updating and/or developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed;

- Review, interpret, and record analytical data within laboratory software platform to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable standards;

- Provide sample investigation assessments and recommend appropriate corrective actions based on findings;

- Adhere to all safety requirements and procedures;

- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Chemistry or equivalent experience;

- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a professional analytical laboratory;

- Demonstrated proficiency in all competencies required of the Laboratory Analyst I role;

- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation, standardized methods, and data interpretation across a variety of analytical techniques;

- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or other laboratory software;

- Familiarity with environmental regulatory compliance requirements;

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat;

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds periodically and 10 pounds consistently;

- Flexibility to work outside of normal hours to meet business needs and deadlines;

- Engage in physical activities such as standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, grasping, repetitive motion, and verbal communication;

- Close visual acuity required for inspections, handling small parts, and operating laboratory equipment;

- Potential exposure to odors, gases, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin;

- Ability to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management, and clients.

Salary Description

$25-$35 per hour
