As a

Lab Analyst

you will complete laboratory operations quality assurance including regulatory testing compliance, inter-laboratory crosscheck programs, statistical process control programs, laboratory training program, laboratory procedures, and product specification management.

- Performs analyses, calibrations, methods, maintenance, and repairs of instruments.

- Assists with purchases, installs, certification of new equipment.

- Works with Lab Manager to develop 5-year plan.

- Assists with installations, documentation, and training personnel on new laboratory procedures or analytical methods.

- Develops and maintains standard operating procedures.

- Oversees, inspects, and monitors performance of the octane engines. This includes lab technician training, participation in motor gasoline cross check programs, rating engines, running and analyzing samples, troubleshooting engine performance, report preparation, engine daily and 100-hour maintenance, and working with CFR for 6-month & annual PMs.

- Ensures chemicals are clearly labeled, hazards are identified and stored properly, and assists with general housekeeping of the lab.

- Runs HF purities and helps manage HF Lab.

- Liaison between Lab & Maintenance for building repairs. Prepares maintenance and safety work orders, communicates with Operations Supervisors on upcoming jobs, and helps with permitting including EILs and JSAs.

- Oversees hood maintenance and PMs.

- Manages all consumables and communicates with primary supplier(s).

- Manages warehouse receipts at least 3 times a week.

- Backs up QC Plus Administrator and participates in laboratory quality assurance programs.

- Performs non-routine testing as needed.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or GED required.

- 3 years of directly related laboratory experience required.

- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Texas City Refinery, required.

Preferred Requirements

- Bachelor’s or technical degree preferred.
