Job Title: Jr. Estimator
Department: Estimating
Reports To: VP of Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt / Full-time
Summary
The Junior Estimator is responsible for assisting estimators in preparing cost estimates for construction projects. They gather information from blueprints, specifications, and vendor quotes to create accurate cost breakdowns. Additionally, Junior Estimators may also help with bid preparation and contract administration. This position will use software like Blue beam, Onscreen takeoff, Smart bid, Plan hub, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Assist in scoping a project and create list of subcontractors, trades, materials needed.
•Attend site visits as necessary.
•Create and send bid invitation to, and obtain bids from, subcontractors, subcontractor competition, specialty trades, and supply houses.
•Prepare quantitative material takeoffs.
•Data entry of quantity takeoffs.
•Maintain project correspondence, documentation, and revisions.
•Provide recap to management.
•Ensure subcontractor coverage on bids.
•Assist estimator in collecting and verifying proposal accuracy on bid day.
•Responsible for updating master subcontractor list for both Ground Up and Tenant Improvement.
•Other Duties may be assigned
Skills & Experience
•Experience using Onscreen Takeoff, Smart Bid, Blue beam, Plan hub, etc. preferred.
•Strong ability to analyze numerical information and construction plans and drawings with the purpose of determining project requirements and budget.
•High level of detail orientation, documentation, and reporting skills.
•Strong communication skills with work teams, project managers, vendors, clients, building owners, and senior management.
•Track record of focus and emphasis on quality.
•Computer literacy to include intermediate to advanced aptitude in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
•Must understand deadlines.
