About the Role
Corrosion Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Estimator with a minimum of 10 years' experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in preparing cost estimates for complex projects, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sectors. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure accurate pricing and successful bid submissions. Corrosion Engineering serves the mining industry with high-abrasion, wear-resistant products. We are a family-owned and operated business.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Analysis
•Review project plans, technical drawings, and specifications to determine scope and requirements
•Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
•Identify and assess potential project risks, incorporating contingencies where appropriate
•Ensure accuracy and competitiveness of all submitted costings
Bid Development & Management
•Develop and submit high-quality tenders and proposals aligned with project and client objectives
•Collaborate closely with project managers, sales teams, and technical leads throughout the bid process
•Track and manage multiple bids while ensuring deadlines are consistently met
Supplier & Vendor Coordination
•Request, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
•Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure optimal pricing and terms
Post-Bid & Market Analysis
•Conduct bid reviews and after- action analyses to identify areas for improvement
•Monitor market trends, material pricing, and industry developments to maintain competitive estimates
Reporting & Documentation
•Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and cost data
•Provide regular reports on estimate performance, budget variances, and pricing benchmarks
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred)
Experience:
•Minimum of 10 years’ experience in estimating within the mining, construction, or corrosion engineering sectors
•Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction, manufacturing or engineering industry.
Skills & Competencies:
•Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude
•Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Excel, or equivalent)
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong organizational and time management abilities
•Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet strict deadlines
•Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
•Collaborative team player with a client-focused mindset
