We are currently seeking a Junior Distribution Engineer to join our team. This is a non-union position based in Sudbury, Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will play a critical role in the development, research and recommendation of distribution design and construction standards, as well as distribution equipment specifications.
As part of our Engineering team, you will:
· Provide engineering expertise and coordinate utility construction projects.
· Conduct technical studies including fault level analysis, load forecasting and power quality assessments to optimize system performance.
· Analyze outage data and system loading to improve reliability across the electrical distribution network.
· Support the integration of distributed energy resources, including Connection Impact Assessments and interconnection coordination.
· Assist in the design, commissioning, and programming of automated devices and protective relays.
· Maintain and update system models and equipment databases using engineering software.
· Prepare technical reports and recommendations for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:
· A four-year University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent by Professional Engineers Ontario.
· Eligible or working towards a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
· A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required.
· One to three years of experience working with utility distribution systems is considered an asset.
