Waterline Resources Inc. is a small-sized groundwater resources and environmental consulting firm based in Calgary, Alberta, with satellite offices in Edmonton, and Nanaimo, BC. Waterline has a growing Information Services team that provides support through business workflow automation, data management services and mapping and visualization products to the hydrogeologists on staff and to our clients. We are seeking a Calgary-based Junior Data Analyst to assist our information services team with non-standardized historical data compilation from external sources and support for other data initiatives related to our increasing workload and project demands. QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
•Experience with ETL pipelines, specifically data transformations from a wide variety of sources (E.g. PDF, OCR derived, Excel, Web API).
•Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and data science principles.
•Experience with Python as a scripting and data processing language.
•Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
ASSETS
•Knowledge of software development practices and tools such as Git.
•Knowledge of chemical, geological, and/or environmental datasets.
•Experience with geospatial data and GIS.
•Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Dagster).
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
•ETL for large and complex datasets using SQL, Python, and data engineering tools as required.
•Develop pipelines and processes to deal with frequently experienced data formats.
•Work with the Data Management team to understand our domain knowledge, standards, and principles.
•Create routines, automated tests, and QA standards to maintain quality of our datasets.
•Collaborate with the Development and GIS teams to solve overlapping issues.
•Investigate and learn new approaches to our existing data challenges.
•Provide visualizations and reports as required using Business Intelligence tools.
