The Project Cost Analyst will be responsible for the financial management of all transmission and substation capital projects. The position will work closely with the project management team to lead all financial components, including monitoring project cost versus budget, accrual forecasting, expenditure tracking, status reports, management of unbilled expenses, purchase requisitions, and change orders. The candidate will have intermediate accounting knowledge, require little supervision, and will be capable of managing the accounting and financial side of all projects. Specific duties performed will be based on project-specific needs identified by the project management team. The position reports to the Project Analyst.
Responsibilities include:
•Managing accrual and cash basis forecasts for multiple ongoing projects reflecting project cost, cost commitments, financing cost, and overall estimate at completion
•Monitoring project cost versus budget expenditures
•Supporting the project team in reviewing and processing purchase orders, invoices, and change orders
•Participate in monthly project financial reporting meetings with Accounting and Finance departments and reporting project actuals, commitments, financing cost, and overall estimate at completion
•Act as the department’s point of contact regarding financial items with the Accounting and Financing departments
•Work closely with the Finance department to develop financing cost requirements for new projects
•Setting up new projects in Oracle to ensure project costs are captured accurately and consistently amongst all projects
•Collaborating with Accounting to develop a consistent project coding system for projects in Oracle Management of purchase order requests and change order requests using WETT’s internal software, protocols, and procedures
•Coordinating with vendors to develop and enforce accurate project cost forecasting and invoicing
•Collection and review of monthly contractor invoices and accruals
•Supports the project closeout process, including unitizing fixed capital assets
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
•BS/BBA in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
•Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in cost accounting
•Accrual and Cash based project cost forecasting
•Estimate at completion analysis
•Very proficient computer skills using MS Excel
•Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments
•Ability to balance competing and high-priority work demands
•Ability to work in a team environmental
•Ability to balance effective oral and written communication skills
