IT Technical Intern (TX)

Position Summary

This internship will focus on building strong partnerships and work effectively with Management to meet departmental needs. In this position, you will cultivate learnings from the classroom and apply them to real world assignments utilizing Computer Information Systems and effective communication strategies. Position will engage members of a team, learn the process and standards for an EMS system and understanding regulatory procedures. This position will help alleviate pressures on current employees as well as prepare the individual with the tools to be a successful applicant for Xcel Energy opportunities in the future.

This is a long-term (year or longer), paid position for up to 20 hours per week during academic periods and up to 40 hours per week during non-academic periods including summer and school breaks. Hours during academic periods can be flexible based on class schedule. This year-round, long term internship is meant to support the exploration of job opportunities after graduation (based on mutual interest and availability).

Minimum Requirements

- Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college

- Major or minor in IT, Computer Science or related field

- Good organization, communication, and problem-solving skills

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

- Must be approachable, flexible, self-motivated, results and team oriented

- Learns new tasks and develops skills quickly

- Ability to commute to location

Preferred Qualifications

- Sophomore Status or above (as of Fall 2025)

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $18.40 to $21.60 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
