Description
The Intern Trainee will work closely with teams across Burns & McDonnell to gain meaningful experience in a professional work environment. This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure within an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction firm. Interns will work under the guidance of experienced professionals who will offer regular oversight and mentorship throughout the program. This position is ideal for individuals seeking practical experience in the consulting field while contributing to impactful projects that address real-world challenges. It also presents an excellent opportunity to network with seasoned professionals and company leadership, and to gain valuable insights into the engineering and construction industry.
•Assist with tasks such as filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, and PowerPoint presentations
•Support field staff with on-site tasks, including equipment setup, data collection, and inspections
•Help prepare reports or summaries based on field activities
•Respond to general inquiries and assist with routine questions
•Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data
•Support team members with project-related tasks and research
•Shadow staff to gain exposure to various roles and responsibilities
•Assist with event planning, scheduling, and logistics
•Research solutions to project-related concerns; analyze and recommend potential improvements
•Contribute to ad hoc projects as assigned by managers
•Performs other duties as assigned
•Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
•Currently enrolled and in good standing in a high school education program Required or
•High School Diploma/GED Required
•Must be at least 16 years old
•A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred
•Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred
•Actively involved in campus, community, or volunteer activities or organizations
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
•Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
•Self-motivated and eager to learn, with an aptitude for growth and development in the field
•Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status
Compensation
$19.55-32.25 Hourly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
