Environmental/Natural Resources Technician
Avison Management Services Ltd. is a well established and growing Environmental and Forestry Consulting Company with operations across British Columbia. We are currently seeking a Natural Resources/Environmental Technician to join our team in the Vanderhoof Office. This position will include both field office-based work.
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications:
•Completed a bachelors degree in Biological and/or Environmental Sciences.
•Previous experience in the following fields: collecting field samples and taking measurements in fisheries and aquatics, stream restoration, hydrology, water quality (groundwater and surface water), environmental monitoring and sediment and erosion control.
•Previous experience conducting biophysical baseline and/or monitoring projects that comply with British Columbia Environmental Assessment requirements would be an asset.
•Experience in ecosystem restoration planning, permitting, project management, and landowner and First Nation relations is an asset.
•Ability and desire to work collaboratively in a variety of biological or environmental fields, with other environmental professionals.
•Strong report writing, verbal communication and client relationship skills.
•Education and previous experience in wildlife survey techniques is also an asset.
Responsibilities:
•Assist in the collection of biophysical baseline data for environmental projects including: collecting samples and taking measurements in fisheries and aquatics, wildlife survey, hydrology, water quality (groundwater and surface water), environmental monitoring and sediment and erosion control.
•Planning and carrying out stream restoration activities.
•Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
•The flexibility to work within many disciplines.
