Job Summary
The Government Relations (GR) Intern is responsible for providing research, writing and general legislative and regulatory support for the GR team. Project leadership responsibilities are outlined under “Essential Job Functions” below.

General Internship Goals
- Grow technically and personally through experience working closely with the Vice President of Government & Public Relations and coordinator of Tenaska’s state lobbyists on projects critical to the team’s success.
- Provide cross-team support for Tenaska’s Government Relations unit in the areas of public policy, public relations, business development and strategic engagement.
- Expand your knowledge and take advantage of opportunities to broaden and strengthen your skills.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling, coordinating and participating in internal and external meetings and conference calls.
- Assist Special Assistant in working with Tenaska business units, federal and state lobbyists and Vice President of Public & Government Relations to develop, update and upload pertinent information into databases.
- Compile materials and prepare for federal and state-related advocacy meetings.
- Participate in chamber and other trade association calls and meetings.
- Research regulatory policy issues facing Tenaska, with a focus on fossil and renewable energy generation, storage, permitting and electricity rates regulations.
- Analyze policy initiatives for their impacts on Tenaska.
- Participating in special events to support community relations plans for existing power plants, development projects and business units.
- Other duties, as assigned.

- Reliable, dependable and predictable attendance is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and Word preferred.
- Ability to execute a number of parallel tasks and work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to independently prioritize and make sustained progress toward a deadline.
