Summary
Responsible for supervising the work of other employees in executing plant instrument, control, and electrical
maintenance responsibilities to achieve efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the plant and its equipment. Leads
ICE staff, monitoring ICE crew costs and identifying reasons for mitigating variances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Maintains and ensures safe working conditions, use of proper tools and equipment, and protective clothing & devices. This includes housekeeping activities, participation in accident investigations and the use of root cause analysis or other methods to maintain a safe working environment.
•Supervises, coordinates, plans, directs, and/or organizes plant instrument, controls, and electrical maintenance activities including inspection and analysis of operating conditions, equipment, capital improvements, various maintenance programs, and/or staffing requirements.
•Drives the “Work Management” process by the use of performance metrics and the utilization of “PASTA”, work management software.
•Oversees inspections and analysis of equipment, operating and maintenance problems, determines root cause, implements improvements or corrective actions.
•Oversees and supervises safety training of assigned employees.
•Develops and communicates quality pre-job briefing.
•Coordinates the planning for ICE support and plant outages including developing workflow charts and critical paths, analyzing and overseeing requisitioning of material and equipment needs.
•Tracks and controls expenditures to meet approved financial performance.
•Develops and maintains areas of ownership with their crew that will assist in meeting plant goals.
•Directs crew to focus on forced curtailment critical path work as required.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
•AS Electrical Engineering Technology or AS Electronic Engineering Technology
Experience:
•Eight (8) years related power plant Relevant on-the-job experience or education above and beyond that described above may be substituted for part of the experience and/or education requirement (e.g. Military Electrical/Electronics technical training or Electrical and Instrumentation Journeyman)
Abilities & Skills:
•Strong organizational skills
•Ability to read and understand technical documents and write technical reports
Solid understanding and ability to perform duties in accordance with all federal, state, local and company environmental, safety and health regulations, policies, procedures, rules and practices.• Ability to recognize and report on unsafe conditions, practices, irregularities and abnormal conditions to appropriate supervision and stop all unsafe work.
•Sound knowledge of OHSA, Regulatory, and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
•Proficient working within Microsoft Outlook, Asset Suite, Word, Excel, PASTA applications for communication, planning, parts, procurement and time entry. • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
•Ability to promote the safe, efficient, reliable, operation of the plant.
•Proficient in use of applicable Scheduling Software and Process Information (PI) trending software
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk; sit; work with hands and fingers; push, pull, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate with others to exchange information; and hear. The employee must be able to operate machinery, motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and power tools. The employee must have close visual acuity to analyze data, perform inspections, and view computer monitors; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
Work Environment
This position requires working in hazardous conditions such as extreme heat and cold both in inside and outside environments; environments containing fumes, odors, dust, gases, and high amounts of noise and vibration. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work in close quarters, narrow passageways, at heights, on grating, platforms, scaffolding, poles, and catwalks. Work outside normal business hours may be required.
