MAIN PURPOSE:
The main purpose of the Hydraulic Specialist is to report and work under the supervision of the Workshop Foreman on all shop or inhouse hydraulic components ex. Cylinders, pumps, motor, and gearbox repairs.
EDUCATION:
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics
- Rebuild open and closed looped piston pumps, vane and gear pumps
- Good communication, organizational, and team skills
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of the team
- Computer literate/knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel software
- Rebuild all types of cylinders
- Ability to stand and work from a workbench for periods up to (3) hours at a time
- Some light bending may be required to perform certain tasks
- 10+ years’ relevant experience- Apply knowledge of hydraulic circuit configuration gained from experience in a range of different industries / applications including but not limited to offshore and subsea.
- Apply knowledge of major hydraulic equipment manufacturers and specialist suppliers within the hydraulic industry.
- General refurbishment/repair of all hydraulic components and complete disassembly/test reports.
- Inspection of disassembled components to determine suitability for use in line with manufacturers drawings/tolerances.
- Rebuilt and assist in testing of refurbished units as required.
- Cleaning and preparation of components prior to rebuild.
- Be available and flexible in assisting in other workshop activities as workloads dictate.
- Provide Hydraulic Training for Internal and external clients, as requested.
- Ensure best practice in all areas of fluid power design, construction, testing, installation and commissioning.
- Fluid power circuit implementation: hoses, pipes, tubes, fittings.
- Determine customer requirements and objectives and assist in developing specifications for projects / systems to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Apply understanding of industry standards and directives in delivering projects to the required specification.
- Prepare detailed work procedures and reports in relation to projects executed.
- Carry out site visits, when requested, and prepare detailed reports
- Administration of assigned project files.
- Know and understand Sparrows Offshore’ Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
- Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Equipment design – new-build and system modification / upgrade
- Compilation of technical specifications and documentation packages
- Review Hydraulic Data traces and provide recommendation.
- Maintenance and operational support
- Administer / Teach Hydraulic training courses
